Communists Recruit by Phone in St. Louis

According to an Article in the Communist Party USA news, People's World, the CPUSA in St. Louis held their first 'phone bank' this month:

"ST. LOUIS, Mo. (Peoplesworld.org) - "You really made my day," said the voice on the other end of the phone, from Austin, Texas. "I'm so happy to hear from you guys." He was on his way to the South by Southwest music festival, but paused long enough to talk to a phonebanker.

That was a typical response from the coast-to-coast call to 1,500 new members of the Communist Party USA and Young Communist League on March 19. All had joined the CPUSA or YCL online recently, and some were getting their first contact.

"It was a great reception. People really want to be a part of the Communist Party," said Jonathan, one of the phone bankers. "Several people were very excited and said, 'I was wondering when someone was going to call me.'"

Cash for Clunkers 2: The Return of a Failure

According to an Article in the Washington Times, the Government wants to bring back the failed concept of cash for clunkers. Surprised?:

"Is the United States really prepared to deal with another tax payer paid for deal that will only benefit the now government owned GM? After all, did Cash for Clunkers part one really work out for the tax payers and auto dealers? Washington, D.C. based organization Americans for Tax Reform didn't think so and wrote in late October of 2009:

The program began on July 24th with a budget of $1 billion and by July 30th they were out of money. Giving people “free” money to buy cars is definitely popular. Congress then allocated another $2 billion that lasted almost until the end of August. That’s right, $3 billion in under a month. The program didn’t help the economy or auto industry. Despite a bump in the 3rd quarter to GDP and auto sales, consumer spending dropped 0.5% in September and the vehicle output bump was artificial and unsustainable, meaning it will drop off considerably in the next quarter as the market stabilizes to its real level. As Nick Gillespie and Veronique de Rugy pointed out today over at Reason, even the reported GDP bump is misleading, because is includes government spending. So if government spending increases it will increase the GDP, but that doesn’t mean any more was produced.

There are also the unseen costs of this program. By encouraging people to junk older vehicles, they lowered the supply of cheap used cars. When you lower supply and keep demand stable, the price goes up. With fewer used cars on the market, the prices for remaining used cars increases. This will make it more difficult for younger drivers or low income drivers to buy cars to get to work or school. (A video by Congressman Ron Paul further explains how it hurts the poor here.) At least the wealthy got a handout to buy their brand new cars though right?

Unfortunately, when ideas turn bad, it does not preclude another similar bad idea to be proposed later on."

If you remember correctly many dealers had a hard time getting paid for the first cash for clunkers program. You think this one will be any better?

Why Smart Meters WILL Make Power Companies Richer

Sometime this week I will be Breaking HUGE and Disturbing News about the Smart Grid. But before that time I want my readers to get a feeling for what the Smart Grid actually is. To get that started here is an Article from the Guardian that explains how Smart Meters for the Smart Grid will actually make Power Companies Richer:

"To listen to the government and the electricity companies, the coming "smart energy" grid and smart meters in all our homes herald reduced prices, lower carbon emissions and individual consumer control of energy.

My hunch is that this is nonsense and unless we are very careful, we will see Big Brother taking over over our homes as power companies get to micro-manage our energy supply and are given complete access to information about how we live.

Rather than see reductions in costs, I fear that most consumers will pay more, the most vulnerable people will be penalised and no energy will be saved at all.

Here's why the alarm bells are ringing:

1. A smart grid allows energy companies to charge infinitely variable rates according to when they provide the power. In the name of saving energy and emissions they have indicated that they plan to charge more at peak times and less at night or times of low use. The danger is that they act like the privatised train companies, charging exorbitant fares at rush hour – or when most people need power to make meals or wash up. The average consumer will have to pay far more for a reliable electrical service.

2. Studies show that smart meters with a feedback mechanism – such as a small wireless screen showing energy use – can save up to 15% off a household's energy and emissions by showing users when they are using energy needlessly and encouraging them to switch off unnecessary equipment or lights. But other research, in Scotland and Italy, suggests that after the initial novelty wears off, consumers go back to their bad old energy-wasting habits and companies start to charge whatever they can get away with.

3. People will be encouraged to programme individual appliances to switch on when power is cheaper and companies can be expected to offer lower rates in return for being allowed to turn down – or turn off – individual appliances' electricity use at times of high demand. This will benefit the educated and the techno-savvy, but pensioners, the ill and the vulnerable in society may be baffled and therefore penalised.

4. Power companies will be able to telleveryone's energy-use habits precisely, to the point of knowing which appliances they use, when people are in or out of a house, how efficient their boilers are and what they cook. This data is commercially valuable and it can be expectedthat it would be sold to other companies. The regulator will have to decide who owns the data and whether companies have the right to turn off appliances. Fears that data on energy consumption could be misused by criminals, police or insurance companies have slowed the compulsory introduction of smart meters in Holland.

5. The gains are likely to be made by the rich who can afford to generate their own electricity, or who can buy the most energy-efficient technology. Everyone else will have to become fluent in the art of micromanaging their energy use. This is likely to be beyond the old, the poor and people confused by technology.

6. The large energy companies have a bad record in pushing up prices whenever possible and many have lost the trust of consumers. Many have been found to overcharge, missell, and make misleading statements about green tariffs. The likelihood is that the smart grid will make things more complex. Only last week, the regulator, Ofgem, ordered the power companies to reform their pricing and to stop confusing customers who, they said, were were being "bamboozled" with more than 300 different energy tariffs.

7. If electricity companies are allowed to vary the price that they charge their customers by the hour, how much more difficult will it be to challenge them or ensure they are acting fairly? In the US, where smart meters have been installed in some towns, there has been a rash of accusations of unfair practices."

As you can see, the Smart Grid is NOT going to be what it's being advertised to be. But after my story Breaks later this week, you will truly understand what the Smart Grid can and WILL be used for. .

EU to Ban Gasoline Cars From All Cities by 2050

Global Warming Nuts are not just reserved to the U.S.

"The European Commission on Monday unveiled a "single European transport area" aimed at enforcing "a profound shift in transport patterns for passengers" by 2050.

The plan also envisages an end to cheap holiday flights from Britain to southern Europe with a target that over 50 per cent of all journeys above 186 miles should be by rail.

Top of the EU's list to cut climate change emissions is a target of "zero" for the number of petrol and diesel-driven cars and lorries in the EU's future cities.

Siim Kallas, the EU transport commission, insisted that Brussels directives and new taxation of fuel would be used to force people out of their cars and onto "alternative" means of transport.

"That means no more conventionally fuelled cars in our city centres," he said. "Action will follow, legislation, real action to change behaviour.".

Obama's 'Youth Corps' Coming to An Elementary School Near You

You send your kids to school everyday in the hopes that they will receive a good, honest education in reading, writing and arithmetic. But it would seem that the Obama Administration would like to add a few more subjects to the curriculum: Global Warming and Public Service.

All this week I have been breaking stories about President Obama's 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps. I have discovered that through this "Youth Corps" the Obama Administration, with the help of leftest organizations including SEIU, hope to indoctrinate your children into believing in Global Warming( The First Goal Listed on their Website is to reduce the impact of climate change on our natural resources), Social Justice and Collective Bargaining just to name a few. Now it seems that the Obama Administration wants to teach your kids about working for the Government.

According to the Department of Interior's pamphlet on the 'Youth Corps' one of the "goals" is to "engage" kids in Public Service:

"In the past, young people would aspire to careers in public service, working as park rangers, biologists,and recreation managers. Today, the appeal to work in natural resource jobs must compete with new vocational interests and careers that reflect our changing society. The Department must be proactive in its efforts to ensure that talented and capable young people are interested in entering public service as natural resource professionals.

The Department’s 2010 budget initiative identifies a three-pronged approach to:

• Engage youth in public service.
• Enhance science-based programs offered
through schools and community partners.
• Improve curricula of national environmental
education programs."

The Obama Administration seems to think that your kids need help in learning about Public Service in our 'Changing Society'. I assume he means our Society is going to change because of Global Warming.. But I digress.

As of right now, this Youth Corps is voluntary so if you don't want your kid influenced by the Radical Leftest you don't have to.

Or Do You?

According to the same Department of Interior's pamphlet on the 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps, they will be bringing Obama's Youth Corps to your Kid's School:

"Critical to the success of the 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps initiative is ensuring that students interested in natural resource careers gain the necessary knowledge and skills to qualify for Interior positions. The NCTC will work with learning institutions at elementary, middle and high schools, and at the college level to meet this goal."

So the Obama Administration is going to an Elementary School to find what? 1st Graders that want to work for the Government? Really? And it's "Critical to the Success" of Obama's Youth Corps? Why? Well the Pamphlet gives the answer to the question of Why:

"A body of research exists that suggests that childhood experiences with nature are associated with increased environmentalism."

So the idea is if Obama can get to your kids soon enough through the "Youth Corps" then they will become Good Little Indoctrinated Leftest Environmentalists.

But that's Not all.

The Obama Administration will also be using different Government Departments, like the Department of Land Management, to "engage" the Youth in the Conservation Corps. Because it would seem, according to the Pamphlet, the Administration sees these types of Youth Programs as the "Gateway" into Federal Service:

"Participants will learn while serving, and can earn stipends as well as college credits. For those interested in pursuing careers with natural resource management agencies, the Student Career Experience Program provides the gateway into Federal service."

So it would seem the Obama Administration is not only looking to indoctrinate your kids but to recruit them as well.

For those that need a reminder about the type of "Youth Corps" that the Obama Administration seems to relish, here is a Rather 'Militaristic ' Commercial from one of the Branches of AmeriCorps, City Year:



And if you think President Obama isn't aware of such an Organization then you may want to ask him why he wore a City Year Hat While Golfing.



Isn't it odd that Secretary of the Interior Salazar described the Youth of America as 'Engines of Change' and the City Year Commercial depicted their Young Recruits as Being 'Change'. The Obama Administration seems to be showing a Disturbing trend in their Actions. Be it your kids at School or kids in Government 'Youth' Programs like City Year, Obama seems determined to 'Change' the Youth of America into his Vision for the Future.

SEIU is a 'Partner' With Obama's 'Youth Corps'

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is not only known for their Violent Tactics against those who oppose them, but for being in Bed with the Obama Administration. So what I have to tell you next should be no surprise.

Earlier this week I broke the story about how Obama's 21st Century Youth Conservation Corps is actually a vehicle that is being used to indoctrinate your children into not only believing in Global Warming, but as the Secretary of Interior, Ken Salazar said, to turn your children into "Engines of Change".

The 21st Century Conservation Youth Corps is being administered by the Department of Interior's 'Youth Department' that was created in 2009 by Ken Salazar. And according to the 'Youth Department's' website, Youthgo.gov, it's their job to "inspire" The Next Generation of Conservation Leaders:

"The Next Generation of Conservation Leaders

Outside and Involved

The Department of the Interior is uniquely positioned to help millions of young Americans reconnect with our natural and cultural heritage, put thousands of young people to work in the great outdoors, and inspire the next generation of conservation leaders.

Who is partnered up with Youthgo.gov in order to help "inspire" those new Conservation Leaders? According to the partnership page of Youthgo.gov several Government and leftest Organizations including, AmeriCorps, The Sierra Club and something called The Blue Green Alliance.

According to the Youthgo.gov, The Blue Green Alliance is a harmless organization made up of Unions and Environmental Organizations.

"The BlueGreen Alliance is a national, strategic partnership between labor unions and environmental organizations dedicated to expanding the number and quality of jobs in the green economy."

But According to The Blue Green Alliance Website they are NOT just about saving the Planet, but pushing forward the Ideas of Collective Bargaining:

"The Blue Green Alliance works on issues ranging from energy and climate change to transportation to workers' rights and green chemistry. Specifically, BGA is working to:

•Pass comprehensive clean energy and climate change legislation that is based on two overriding principles - the best scientific advice on reduction targets and solutions that create and save millions of American jobs;
•Restore the rights of workers in the United States to organize and bargain collectively;
•Establish a 21st Century trade policy that promotes growth and prosperity across all sectors of global society, and embeds enforceable labor, environmental, and human rights standards in our trade agreements; and
•Create an informed 21st century policy on toxic chemicals that protects workers and communities from dangerous chemicals, enhances public health and promotes safer alternatives."

The Blue Green Alliance accomplishes this work through:

•Comprehensive Climate Change and Energy Legislation. BGA advocates for its recent global warming legislative principles, which expresses support for an economy-wide cap-and-trade system.
•Renewable Electricity and Energy Efficiency Standards' Campaigns. In partnership with dozens of other advocacy organizations and businesses, BGA promotes the passage of state and federal legislation mandating the production of renewable electricity.
•Employee Free Choice Campaign. BGA advocates for the expansion of workers' rights in the United States through passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.
•Transportation Act Reauthorization. BGA advocates for transportation investments that create green jobs in freight rail, high-speed rail and other infrastructure projects that contribute to solving global warming.

The Blue Green Alliance is also interested in 'Education' that involves the Communist/Socialist Ideals of 'Social Justice' and they even brag about working with Al Gore's 'Green' Organization:

•The annual Good Jobs, Green Jobs National Conference, which took place in Washington, D.C. in 2009, brought together labor, environmental, business, academic, political and social justice leaders to share research and ideas for achieving a refashioned, green economy.
•Labor Climate Project. In partnership with former Vice President Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection, the Blue Green Alliance Foundation is working with union members across the country to educate blue-collar constituencies about the urgency and solvability of global warming and how its solutions can revitalize our economy and create good, union jobs."

Ironically, Carol M Browner, known Socialist and Obama's Climate Czar until she stepped down at the beginning of this year, is a former board of directors member for Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection.

Now you may wonder who belongs to this Socialist Sympathizing Labor type 'Green' Organization. Well according to their About Us and Membership page , several unions and environmental groups including The Sierra Club and SEIU:

"Launched in 2006 by the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club, this unique labor-environmental collaboration has grown to include the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), National Wildlife Federation (NWF), Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, United Auto Workers and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The Blue Green Alliance unites more than 14 million members and supporters in pursuit of good jobs, a clean environment and a green economy."

If you click on the Map that is located on the Youthgo.gov website you will notice who the Youth Department of the Department of Interior is 'partnering' up with in each state. Not Surprisingly you will see that The Blue Green Alliance is working with the Government in almost every State of the Union. And According to The Blue Green Alliance website, their State-Based Chapters have a coinciding 'Green' agenda:

"State-based BlueGreen Alliance Chapters. The Blue Green Alliance Foundation and the local chapters of its national partners are working in states around the country on climate change, workers' rights, clean energy job creation, fair trade and green chemistry."

So it would seem that The Blue Green Alliance and SEIU are 'Partnering Up' to brainwash your children through Obama's 21st Century Conservation Youth Corps into believing in Climate Change, Collective Bargaining and Social Justice while at the same teaching them how to be 'Engines of Change' so they can 'Refashion' the U.S. into some Socialist 'Green' Economy.

CBO Says Taxing-By-The-Mile is an 'Efficient' Way to Raise Revenue

Just when you thought that the Government could think of new ways to take your money, they don't... They just come up with old ideas instead.

Ever since 'green' technology and electric cars have become the latest fad, politicians have been wondering how they are going to replace the tax revenue from the gas tax. That is based on the premise that electric cars will need little if any gas and therefore revenues from the gas tax will dramatically drop.

The First Idea to replace the gas tax was spawned around 2005 with something called Tax-by-the-mile. This Idea met with alot of resistance from the Public with fears of an Orwellian Society where the Government Tracks your every move and Controls your Behavior through your Wallet.

While this may seem far fetched, most people don't realize that this Tax "Idea" is alot closer to becoming a reality.

In 2005 the Government began a study, in conjunction with the University of Iowa, on how to implement a "Tax by the Mile" Program. That study was finally completed last year. According to the an Article done by ABC News on the Study, the Tax-by-the-Mile system would go something like this:

"Every time the drivers filled up at two of the participating gas stations, the device would automatically calculate how many miles they drove. Instead of being charged Oregon's 24-cents-a-gallon gas tax, the motorists were charged 1.2 "Ultimately, you pay for the mileage that you drive," Starr said. "We made it really clear that our pilot was revenue-neutral. We didn't want to raise more taxes from Oregon drivers but just to test the concept."

At the end of the pilot, 91 percent of the volunteers said they would agree to continue paying the mileage fee in lieu of the gas tax if the program were extended statewide.

The catch for Oregon: Retrofitting vehicles with the devices was extremely costly. Starr said that if a vehicle-miles-traveled tax is ever permanently implemented, the automakers would have to be required to install the transponders in all new cars.

"It's something that needs to be addressed at the federal level," Starr said. "It really makes very little sense for one state on its own to implement a VMT."

Oregon charged all the volunteers the same 1.2 cents for each mile driven, although the rate could be adjusted as necessary. The technology could be used to charge motorists more for driving during rush hour or less for off-hours. Certain zones could also be deemed congestion areas and higher fees could be assessed.

So, states could actually tax people more for driving through city centers during their morning commute than a farmer on a rural road at midnight. States could also charge higher rates to SUVs and lower rates to hybrids if they wanted to encourage the use of more fuel-efficient vehicles. Such tracking has drawn concerns from privacy advocates, although VMT supporters say such issues can be resolved."

So If I was still a long distance commuter where I drove 100 Miles a day round trip to and from work 5 days a week. At .1 cent a Mile I would rack up $300 in taxes by the time I needed to change the oil. That would mean almost every month I would have to come up with an additional $300 just to pay taxes since I lived 50 miles from where I work. Somehow I just don't see that happening on my salary.

And while the above article claims that retrofitting everyone's vehicle with a device that could allow a Tax-by-The-Mile system might be expensive, it's not impossible.

The University of Iowa created a video on how the Government might install such a device in any vehicle to track your mileage:

So a GPS is going to be located in your car and the Government Isn't Going to Record your Every Location... Yea I believe that, don't you?

Doesn't the saying Absolute Power Corrupt Absolutely Ring Any Alarm Bells??

As Crazy as all this sounds it just got a little Crazier.

According to an Article on CNS News the Congressional Budget Office has said that a Tax-By-The-Mile program is an Efficient way to Raise Revenue:

"(CNSNews.com) - A new Congressional Budget Office study says taxing motorists based on the number of miles they drive would be a fair and "efficient" way to charge motorists for the real cost of using the nation's highways. "Vehicle-miles traveled" taxes (or VMT taxes) also would provide a strong incentive for people to drive less.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood floated the idea of a VMT tax one month after President Obama took office, but Obama’s spokesman immediately shot it down. "It is not and will not be the policy of the Obama administration," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reportersin February 2009.

But that was then.

The CBO study, released this week, says the federal government pays in part for about 25 percent of the nation's highways, which carry about 85 percent of all road traffic. Right now, federal spending on those highways is funded mainly by taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel, but those taxes do not raise enough money to support either the current federal spending on highways -- or the higher spending levels that some transportation planners advocate.

The CBO said most of the costs of using a highway, including pavement damage, congestion, accidents, and noise, are tied more closely to the number of miles traveled than to the amount of fuel consumed.

While raising fuel taxes would bring in more money, the CBO notes that a "fundamental" problem would remain: "By themselves, fuel taxes cannot provide a strong incentive for people to avoid overusing highways," the report said.

On the other hand, VMT taxes would have most motorists paying "substantially more than they do now -- perhaps several times more," the report said. "Such a system would maximize the efficiency of highway use by discouraging trips for which costs exceed benefits."

So as you can see, the Government is always looking for the next way to get money out of your wallet (and Blood from a Stone) while forcing you to change your behavior in a way that pleases those in power. New Haven CT: Young Communist League to Protest With Unions During Next "Red School Bus" Tour Stop

The Commies Who Support ALL Forms of Revolution, including Violence, are on the move again.

The Young Communist League is taking a 'Red School Bus Tour' across the United States with their first stop being in Los Angeles California a month ago. Now the Communists are setting their sights on their second School Bus Stop, New Haven Connecticut.

The Young Communist League (YCL) plan on having their "Marxist" Classes at the Local Communist Party Headquarters in Connecticut next month:

"The next stop on the Red Bus Tour is New Haven, Connecticut, April 1st - 3rd at the New Haven Peoples Center. Activists from all over the east coast are expected. "We've been doing outreach to several youth organizations in New Haven," said Lisa, an organizer of the YCL school and conference, "There's a lot of excitement about it."

"At one outreach meeting, there was a big discussion about communism. We cleared up some people's misconceptions and expect a big delegation from the group," she said.

Hip Hop and spoken word artists, documentary filmmakers and other young artists plan to make presentations at the event. A slide show on the 17th World Festival of Youth and Students held last year in Pretoria, South Africa is also planned."

But spreading Marxism to the Youth of New Haven isn't enough. The YCL is also going to "March In Solidarity" at a Pro Union Rally while in New Haven:

"YCL members and other groups helping to organize the school in New Haven are participating in a March 30 march and rally, as part of the labor movement's April 4 protests around the country. "We're combining study and action," said Joelle Fishman, the Connecticut CPUSA chairperson. "It's an exciting moment."

Because the 'Red Scare' is not only coming to the beautiful town of New Haven Connecticut.

But the Communists are going to March to Support the Unions as well.
