Washington Post Gets Quincy Riot Police Story WRONG

I came across this Article in the Washington Post about the "Myth" of the Anti-Tea Party Swat Team.

It is written by David Weigel and could not be more inaccurate if he tried, well then again maybe that was his point.

But I Digress, lets begin to pick apart this ridiculous excuse for an Op ed shall we? Here is the Article:

"I like to keep track of fables and narratives within the tea party movement, and we learned of a new one this week -- the story of the "SWAT team" called out to threaten tea partyers in Quincy, Ill. In the words of Jim Hoft, the Gateway Pundit:

The SWAT Team was called in today at the Quincy Tea Party Rally ... local Quincy Tea Party Leader Steve McQueen was directing protesters when the SWAT team was called in.

The only problem with that? The SWAT team wasn't called in. Local police, wearing riot gear, briefly marched down the street to clear it for the president's motorcade."

Ok the Only Problem, no wait, the tons of problems with that Mr. Weigel is this...

The Local Police wearing Riot Gear were not there to "Clear" the Street for the President's Motorcade. The Motorcade entered and exited on two sides streets next to the street we were "allowed" to stand on. That Street where we were located was Blocked off . Besides..... The Riot Police Showed up AFTER the President was already inside. Their Purpose was to "assist" the Tea Partiers into returning to their original protest spots, which we were already doing without the appearance of the men in Black.

Mr. Weigel Continues:

"UPDATE: More details from John Cook.
The story, from the Quincy Herald Whig.

There were a few tense moments when the crowd moved west down York toward Third Street after the president's motorcade arrived. A Secret Service agent asked the crowd to move back across the street to the north side.

When the crowd didn't move and began singing "God Bless, America" and the national anthem, Quincy Deputy Police Chief Ron Dreyer called for members of the Mobile Field Force to walk up the street.

The officers, mainly from Metro East departments near St. Louis and dressed in full body armor, marched from the east and stood on the south side of York facing the protesters.

There was no physical contact, and the officers did not come close to the crowd, but there were catcalls and more than a few upset tea party members, including a woman who shouted, "This is communism!"

Hmm More inaccurate info Mr. Weigel.

First there were no real "Tense" moments as far as the crowd was concerned. They just wanted to make sure that the President could see them on the Street Protesting his Policies since he seems to ignore them pretty well when he is in Washington D.C. Which is why they gravitated towards the side street that the President's motorcade just arrived on.

Second, the reason that the majority of the People stayed where they were is because the Secret Service Agents were Yelling without the use of a Bull Horn. The majority of the people present were not even aware that the Secret Service ordered anyone anywhere because they COULD NOT HEAR THEM. Its hard to Yell at 200 people and have a quarter of them hear you, let alone all of them.

Maybe if the Government would properly equip their employees this incident would not even be a story today. Because when McQueen, the leader of the Quincy Tea Party, used his BULLHORN to inform everyone that they need to return to their former protest area, guess what? They went back peacefully at the same time when the Riot Police where getting into position.

Also the Riot Police Did come within Feet of the Protesters, which you would see if you watched my video. But then again that might require you, Mr. Weigel, to look at something other than the spoon fed Mainstream Media.

Let's continue:

"McQueen also assisted in asking people to step back to the north side of York. The crowd moved back, the officers stayed for about 15 minutes and left, and there were no other incidents.

The video of cops in riot gear walking down the street in formation is more weird than threatening. But the sexed-up version of this story is so good that HotAir headlines it "SWAT team outside Obama event beats back geriatric tea-party hordes," even though the blog's own take on the story is less intense.

This isn’t a SWAT team, actually, just local cops in riot gear, but it is the first time I’ve ever seen police in armor do a jaunty little parade down the street when responding to an event. I assure you, when the NYPD rolls up in helmets and shields, they’re all business.

You'll see these photos again, with or without the story of "SWAT teams" battling back average Americans. (It's very important, for some reason, that Hoft point out that most of the protesters were elderly white women.) If tea partyers want to oppose actual police state SWAT tactics, though -- and not just make overheated arguments about the looming "communism" of Barack Obama -- I'd point them to the work of Radley Balko."

Wow, Mr. Weigel I think your Hate of the Tea Parties is showing in your lack of actual in depth investigative reporting. More inaccuracies, ......where do I begin....?

First no where does anyone that was actually there claim that we were being battled anywhere.

It was a form of intimidation....

The Riot Police were used to "encourage", or intimidate, us to return to the original Protest Spot or face their mighty, night stick wielding wrath. But the Secret Service took it a step further when the agent in my Video ordered McQueen and the Riot Police to "push them back and out of sight." It was a bit odd that after we had returned to our side of the street peacefully that the Agent insisted we get off the corner of the street (that we have been standing on for hours before) and pack us in like cattle in a smaller area. So the Riot Police were indeed used to intimidate us to do the bidding of the Secret Service only because they did not have the proper gear, like McQueen did, to inform the Public of their wishes.

That is what is amazing about this incident, that Riot Police would be called out on Peaceful Protesters who were happy and willing to obey the orders of the authorities present if they could only HEAR THEM.

In Reality the Authorities overreacted and instead of Calling out the Riot Squad, they should have just borrowed a Bull Horn.

Oh by the Way Mr. Weigel, the reason why the Gateway Pundit pointed out that the crowd contained elderly white women is because THERE WERE elderly white women.

If the Riot Police would have forced the crowd in anyway, they would have been beating and tear gassing the elderly in the group as well as the young kids, men and women.

Then I think my Video, and your Inaccurate Article, would be totally different...

Mine would be titled:

"Tragedy in Quincy as Peaceful Tea Party Members are Beaten by Riot Squad".

I think your Article would be Titled:

"Myth about Tea Party Beating : Elderly White Tea Party Women throw themselves at Night Sticks of Riot Squad, Police Watch in Horror as Young Tea Party Kids Tear Gas Themselves."

Mr. Weigel I Understand that Perception is Reality.....

Might I suggest, in the Future, you use more Reality...

And Less of Your Biased Perception...

In case you want to know what happened here is the Video I took that day:

Riot Police called on Peaceful Tea Party Protesters in Quincy IL.

Today, in Quincy Illinois outside the civic center where President Barack Obama was giving a speech, 200 peaceful Tea Party Protesters were subject to intimidation by the Riot Police.
.
The incident took place immediately after the President arrived at the civic center while the Protesters where returning to the opposite side of the street.
.
To the surprise of all attending, a platoon of Riot Police appeared and placed themselves between the Tea Party Protesters and the civic center.
.
After the Protesters Peacefully returned to their original side of the street, they were told by the Secret Service, and the Riot Police, to squeeze into an even tighter area behind the sidewalk and into a parking lot.
.
After several rounds of Patriotic Songs were sung by the Tea Party members, the Riot Police lined up and marched off to a round of....
.
Glory, Glory Hallelujah....
.
How appropriate...

Here is the Video I took at the event.

Group Thinks They Found Noahs Ark

Fox News: The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.

Leftists Mocking Tea Party: Crayola Thanks the Tea Partiers

I was wondering how long it would take for this Video to be yanked from the Internet. It appears that Crayola has had this video yanked in about 24 hours.

If you did not see this Video it was a parody of someone pretending to be the CEO of Crayola who was thanking and making fun of the Tea Party and they way we make our signs. At one point the video insinuated that we are racist and illiterate.

It appears at least that Crayola had enough class to force the removal of the video.
